MUNGA HONORABLE CALLS OUT AGAINST A ‘CLUELESS JOE’
Dec 06, 2020

There’s a lot of played out lyrics being heard in the dancehall sphere right now: almost every artiste has flexed their creative muscles to speak about the global pandemic either as an activist or in a hyperactive ode to “outside life” and in maintaining their relevancy in the local space, has flooded the airwaves with tracks reminding fans constantly of who they, the artistes, are.

Not only is Jamaica’s megastar Munga Honorable taking the alternative route but he’s also avoided the genre’s jaded trends. On his latest release, “CLUELESS JOE”, his infectious mechanized vocals are smooth without sounding too simulated on the beat.

From the piano keys into the rhythm at the beginning, Munga Honorable is travelling at full speed like he doesn’t have a second to waste to lyrically attack the subject matter. His voice is commanding as usual, and the rhythm and flow stays true to Munga’s forever-honourable-to-women character, with the dancehall reggae artiste calling out against men who fail to find a woman in a world where, he says, so many exist.

“We outside and the gyal dem a beg we fi come inside. Some boy just useless, when it come to gyal thing dem clueless,” he candidly rhymes in the chorus. “So much woman inna di worl’ suh how can some man nah nuh girl?”, he continues, questioning further in the track, the reasons for his gender’s failure to show dominance and provide women with all that is necessary to satisfy their financial and sexual needs.

Best described as a continuous play on words, Munga Honorable’s lyrics, derive from an organic “street corner reasoning” on what it means to be a “gyalis” – a man who has the power to charm the opposite sex which inevitably leads him to have more than one.

“It was on the topic of who claim to be “gyalis” and who have no approach or knows how to carry out a conversation with a girl … it is highlighting someone who is clueless about how to approach a woman,” explained Munga Honorable about the main inspiration behind the track.

The single was produced and released by Hapilos Records and is being marketed and distributed by 21st Hapilos Digital Distribution, Inc.

“CLUELESS JOE” is available on all major streaming platforms and digital outlets from November 6th.
