Full Chaarge Records (ZJ Dymond)
ZJ Dymond hails from Linstead, a market town in rural St. Catherine parish, Jamaica.
He is one of many Jamaican Disc Jockeys who made a successful transition to music production. Currently, he hosts a show on the Zip FM radio station, sister station to the all-reggae Irie FM.
In 2010, he began producing songs and the following year, launched Full Charge Records. Since then, the label has produced a flurry of rhythms including the Partner Draw, Promiscuous and Ghetto Bible.
His hit songs include Pretty Position by Vybz Kartel, a 2014 song on the Promiscuous. Though getting big names to record on their rhythms usually guarantees producers a hit song, ZJ Dymond says that is not always the case.
“It’s always good to think of a few popular artists to be on your project. Sometimes you’d get those artists to voice and sometimes you don’t, nevertheless, everyone has their place in this industry or on a beat. You never know, a hit song can come from someone you least expect,” he explained.
